The BJP on Saturday alleged before the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) that senior bureaucrats and senior police officers are working like BJD workers to help the party win elections.
“Many IAS and IPS officers and forcing District Election Officers, Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers to work for the BJD. The bureaucrats have stood on the way of a free and fair election process,” a BJP team led by vice-president Sameer Mohanty alleged before the CEO. They too alleged that the officers are collecting election fees from mining mafias, corrupt persons, contractors and corporate houses for the BJD.
They demanded a CBI probe be ordered by the EC. The team also brought allegations that candidatures of some BJD candidates have not been made invalid despite false affidavits submitted by them. Among others, party State Secretary Dr Lekhashree Samantsinghar, election cell convenor Ashok Tripathy, Jayant Jena and Sahu Jena were present.
