Media plays a vital role in disaster preparedness and management, said Khordha district Collector Sitanshu Kumar Rout at a programme held to mark the Odisha Disaster Preparedness Day and National Day of Disaster Reduction here on Tuesday.
He said concerned Government officials need to execute plans with dedication to combat natural disasters effectively.
A rally was taken out by students of the BJB High School from the school to the Sanskruti Bhawan in the town. The PECUC organised street plays to make people aware of combating disasters.
Besides, the Fire Services held an awareness drive on disaster management.
Among others, Khordha MLA Jyotirindra Nath Mitra, ADM Manoranjan Mallick, Sub-Collector Suvendu Samal, Emergency Officer Sandhyarani Guru, District Project Officer Sachidananda Pati, Project Coordinator Amita Patnaik were present.
