Brahmapur MP Chandra Sekhar Sahu has urged Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for making the stretch of Chennai-Howrah NH-16 between Ichapur and Sunakhela a six-lane road.
Stating that while the six-laning work on NH-16 is underway, the Ichapur-Sunakhela stretch within the Brahmapurr Lok Sabha constituency would be left as a four-lane road, Sahu said that given the huge volume of traffic on the road, it will create various problems if the road is not made six-lane.
Meeting Gadkari and submitting a memorandum, Sahu also underscored the need to complete the flyover works on the NH as during the phase of construction, traffic congestion has been a big
problem.
He also sought the Minister’s intervention for construction of a flyover at Gate Bazar on NH-59 from Raipur to Gopalpur, besides extension of Highway under the Sagar Mala Project up to the Sonpur beach.
