The Brahmapur Sabuja Vahini launched a two-month-long blood donation campaign with a motto ‘Let’s Create a Blood Relation’ at the MKCG Medical College Hospital here on Sunday with an aim to collect 500 units of blood to fulfil the shortage in the blood bank.
On the first day, 30 units of blood were collected. Brahmapur DFO Asish Kumar Behera, Arya Bhatta Director Sudheera Rout and Vahini president Siba Ram Panigrahi attended as guests.
Panigrahi urged people of Brahmapur to donate blood in large numbers as it would help the needy in the medical as there is a large shortage in blood bank. He also said that even one unit of blood is not available in stock.
Blood Bank’s Dr Rashmita Panigrahi and his team members Sushanta Kumar Panigrahi and Gopal Krushna Panda collected the blood. Among others, Vahini secretary M Dillip, Dr Sankar Narayan Bej, K Khetrabashi, Sagar Kumar Patro, Kabiraj Gauda, Dharmaraj Patro and Sonia Behera were present.
