To collect individual data of every animal of the State in digital format, the Haryana State Animal Husbandry Minister Om Prakash Dhankar on Friday launched ‘Har Pashu Ka Dhyan (HPKD)’ app here.
He also launched Animal Registration Portal for the welfare and genetic improvement of animals and said Haryana is working on a very innovative project, first of its kind in the country. Keeping record of individual animal is a basic necessity of any livestock development programme.
The principles of genetics like selection and culling cannot be applied without the availability of production and pedigree records of the animals. This huge data will form the foundation for the forthcoming animal health and breeding management system. The Minister said 10 lakh head of cattle will be insured in Haryana in current financial year through the National Livestock Mission under Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Samuhik Pashu-dhan Bima Yojana. 1.25 lakh animals have already been insured so far.
He said it is designed to cover all activities required to ensure quantitative and qualitative improvement in livestock production systems and capacity-building of all stakeholders.
