Paying rich tributes to Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das on the occasion of his birth anniversary and the 125th year celebration of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA), Cuttack, Nalco CMD Dr Tapan Kumar Chand said, “Madhubabu was not only a great patriot and a founder of modern Odisha, he was also a great visionary who in the beginning of the 20th century, when industrialisation in Odisha was just budding, talked about quality of products of global standard.
Today, it is a matter of great pride that the Nalco, born and brought up in Odisha, is a company of global repute producing world-class quality of alumina and aluminium and also is being benchmarked by the global aluminium industries for being the lowest-cost and best-quality producer in the world.”
The best tribute to this legend would be that Odisha, which is endowed with natural resources, should become a hub of industries of global standards and this would usher in an era of sustainable prosperity for the state, said Dr Chand.
He exhorted youths to upgrade their knowledge and skills so as to become the frontrunners in the fourth industrial revolution, which has just ushered in, wherein, Internet of Things (IOT), virtual reality, augmented reality, automation and cloud computing to name a few, would become the order of the day.
Dr Chand appreciated the noble work being carried out by the YMCA, Cuttack, particularly in the fields of health, education, women empowerment, sports and character building of youths.
On the occasion, Dr Chand was felicitated by YMCA, Cuttack president Dr Raj Bollabha Mohanty for his corporate leadership.
