Theft accused hurls slippers at Magistrate in court: Maha

Thursday, 31 January 2019 | TN RAGHUNATHA | Mumbai

In a shocking incident, an angry under-trial hurled slippers at a Magistrate in a court room at Bhiwandi in Maharashtra's Thane district on Wednesday, after he was convicted by the court in a house-breaking and theft case.

The incident took place, within minutes after Magistrate JS Pathan held under-trial Ashraf Ansari (22) guilty of the offence, convicted him and sentenced him for house-breaking and theft that he had committed some time in 2017.

Fortunately, the slippers swung by Ansari did not hit the Magistrate, as the latter  ducked in time.

Immediately after the conviction, the Magistrate ruled that the accused would have to undergo another six months imprisonment for his crime, at which Ansari protested and hurled his slippers at the Magistrate.
