Secunderabad MP Kishan Reddy gets place in PM Modi's Cabinet

Telangana gets a representation in Modi’s Cabinet as BJP national leadership picked Gangapuram Kishan Reddy, a dedicated partyman who rose through the ranks.

A first time MP from Secunderabad, Kishan Reddy had served as three-time MLA, was floor leader of party in both united AP and Telangana Assemblies. Starting as an ordinary worker of Janata party at a young age of seventeen in 1977, Kishan Reddy sailed with BJP since its formation in 1980. Thanks to his consistent efforts, organising skills and political acumen, Kishan Reddy earned recognition in the party at State and national level, eventually becoming BJYM's national president and even leading BJP in both united AP and Telangana, before earning a coveted place in Modi's Cabinet.

Being considered as smart and honest leader without any charges of corruption or controversies associated with him helped him get a place in Modi's team. Unflinching loyalty to RSS and BJP ideals and experience on his side, ensured that PM and BJP president Amit Shah, considered Kishan Reddy the first choice, though four MPs won from Telangaana as BJP made big gains in the state for the first time, riding on Modi wave and people's anger over ruling TRS.

"With the blessings of people of Secunderabad and PM Narendramodi Ji, I will be taking oath as Union Minister today. I seek your continued support," tweeted Kishan Reddy after as soon as he got a call from Amit Shah, informing about his inclusion in union cabinet.

As soon as news of Kishan Reddy's inclusion in union cabinet was announced, party cadres across Telangana burst into celebrations.

With inclusion of Kishan Reddy, a committed party man and popular face of the party in State, BJP bosses have not just ensured representation for Telangana State in Union Cabinet after two years gap, but sent clear signals to party cadres that saffron party is focused on expanding party in Telangana and is betting on achievers to do the job. Though no reasons were cited, it was widely believed that Bandaru Dattatreya resigned citing age and health concerns. Now BJP has picked Kishan Reddy, who not just has all qualities to emerge as important leader among younger brigade of BJP at national level, but also steer party to power in Telangana, as BJP is leaving no stone unturned to make inroads into South India.
