Friday, 31 May 2019 | TN RAGHUNATHA | Mumbai

A day after her family members demanded thorough investigations into the circumstances leading to post-graduate medical student Payal Tadvi’s alleged suicide, the Mumbai police brass on Thursday transferred the sensational case to the city crime branch police.

Confirming the transfer of the Payal Tadvi suicide case to the city crime branch branch, Mumbai’s Deputy Commissioner of Police and Spokesperson DCP Manjunath Shinge said: “Considering the seriousness and importance of the Dr. Payal Tadavi’s death case, the investigation has been transferred to Crime Branch”.

“We had demanded that given the questionable circumstances leading to my client’s death, the investigations in the case be handed over to the the Crime Branch.  We had taken up the matter with the ruling Shiv Sena which in turn raised it with CM Devendra Fadnavis,” Payal’s family lawyer Nitin Satpute said.
