The family members of a teenaged girl, who died at a Government hospital during treatment five weeks after she was brutally gangraped, refuse to accept the victim girl’s body till arrests were made in the case, even as the NCP workers stage a protest in front of the Chunabhatti police station in north-central Mumbai.
On a day when the NCP MP Surpriya Sule-led scores of party men to Chunabhatti police station to demand an inquiry by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the alleged gangrape, the victim girl’s family members refused to take the body and perform last rites till the police arrested the four culprits behind the crime.
Talking to media persons after staging a dhana in front of the Chnnabhatti police station, Supriya charged that the conduct of the both state government and the local police appeared “suspicious” and demanded that an impartial investigations be ordered under the SIT. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra State Commission for Women (MSCW) has ordered the Chunabhatti Polic Station to submit its detailed investigation report by Saturday.
