Confusion over an abbreviation led NIA to summon leading cardiologist Upendra Kaul in a terror funding case related to banned terror group JKLF leader Yaseen Malik. Kaul appeared before the agency on Friday.
Documents seized from Malik had mentioned a figure against abbreviation INR and the NIA presumed it to be Indian Currency but questioning cleared air as the term referred to Internationalised Normalised Ratio with reference to blood test reports.
"I explained to them that the figure mentioned was related to his (Malik's) blood reports and not money. The officers were convinced and that's all," Kaul said after the questioning. Kaul has been cardiologist of Malik for over two decades.
