Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Friday directed the local commanders to remain in a state of 'high alert' in order to meet emerging security challenges 'effectively' in the wake of increased infiltration attempts from across the Line of Control.

Soon after his arrival in Srinagar, Army Chief was briefed by the local Commanders on the existing Cease Fire Violations, ground situation and the measures taken.

Accompanied by the Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen KJS Dhillon, Army Chief also visited various formations and units deployed along the Line of Control to boost morale of the foot soldiers on ground zero.

According to official sources, Pakistan has activated multiple launch pads along the line of control to push heavily armed infiltrators inside the Indian territory.

In the last one month, more than 270 infiltration bids have been attempted by these infiltrators with the active support of Pakistan army regulars deployed in the forward areas close to the line of control.

"He shared intelligence reports of a large number of terrorists ready to infiltrate from multiple launch pads across the Line of Control. He exhorted all troops to be ready for any contingencies", Defence PRO said.

During his interaction with the soldiers on ground, he lauded them for their high levels of morale and motivation.
