In a major achievement, a joint team of security forces eliminated two terrorists, including top commander of Jaish-e- Mohammad, involved in the attack on CRPF at Anantnag town on June 12, in a fierce gunfight in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district on Tuesday.
Five CRPF personnel were killed in the attack while SHO of J&K police Arshad Khan, was critically injured.
Sharing details of the gunfight, J&K police spokesman said, “Another top Commander of Jaish-e- Mohammad, Fayaz Panzoo killed along with his associate”.
Police spokesman said, Jaish commander was involved in attack on CRPF at Anantnag town on June 12,2019 in which 5 CRPF Personnel were killed & SHO Arshad Khan was seriously injured who later succumbed to injuries”.
Police spokesman said, “after receiving credible inputs a cordon & search operation was launched jointly by police and security forces in Katoo Bijbehara area of Anantnag”.
During the search operation, the hiding terrorists fired on the search party, he said, adding that the fire was retaliated, leading to an encounter.
“In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter”, police spokesman said.
