6 terror modules busted in J&K

Jammu & Kashmir Police claimed to have broken the back bone of various terror outfits across Kashmir valley by busting at least six major terror modules and arresting  over two dozen over ground workers(OWGs) in the last one month.

These operations were conducted by the police teams across different parts of Kashmir valley to prevent  these OGW’s from spreading reign of terror among the common masses.

Majority of arrested OGW’s were found involved in pasting posters, threatening and terrorising shopkeepers and local residents from starting routine life during continuous shutdown in the aftermath of abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the state in to two Union Territories since August 5.

Of all the police districts, Sopore police busted  maximum terror modules and arrested 10 out of 28 OGW’s belonging to Lashkar-e- Toiba terror outfit.

According to police spokesman,  Sopore police had arrested four  LeT OGWs along with incriminating material at Chatloora Gund Malraj Crossing Rafiabad. They were involved in intimidation and threatening to the general public.

“Similarly six OGWs of LeT poster module was also busted by the Sopore police”.

Police spokesman said, these OGW’s  were involved in arson incidents and publishing threat posters in the area. Two hand grenades were also recovered from the possession of the OGWs arrested at Bypass Crossing. 

Intensifying its fight against terrorists J&K Police along with Army and other security forces also busted a terror module in Awantipoora with the arrest of three persons involved in pasting of threat posters in Ladoo area of the district.

“Threat posters of proscribed outfit Hizbul-ul-Mujahideen and Lashker-e-Toiba were recovered from their possession. Two OGWs were also arrested by Ganderbal police from Naranag area. Arms, ammunition were also recovered from their possession” police spokesman said.

In the militancy infested South Kashmir district of Pulwama, police teams busted a module of militant associates responsible for carrying out blasts in the area by arresting four OGWs. The arrested persons were involved in the IED blast in Arihal area of Pulwama.

According to police spokesman, “On November 25, 2019 Baramulla Police had foiled an attempt to target the recruitment process of Special Police Officers (SPOs) in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Four OGWs were arrested alongwith grenades.

The arrested persons had procured the grenades with their ulterior motive to attack recruitment rally of SPOs in the district. By the arrest of these OGWs a big terror incident was foiled.

“Kulgam Police and other forces during a joint operation arrested three OGWs who were involved in motivating youth to join militancy”, police spokesman said. 

According to police, One OGW namely Bashir Ganie a notorious law and order instigator wanted by Srinagar Police for his involvement in organizing protests in Anchar area of Srinagar was also arrested last week. He was the kingpin and was wanted in various criminal/terror cases.

He was arrested by the Police and his arrest was a great success for Srinagar Police. Meanwhile, one terrorist also surrendered before the Pulwama Police and one OGW of JeM outfit was arrested from Srinagar.
