A 56-year-old man was arrested from Jaipur on Monday for killing a 52 year-old woman after allegedly smothering her in Dwarka’s Sector-7 area. The body of the deceased was found last week on Friday at her house in Dwarka.
The accused has been identified as Dinesh Dixit, a resident of Jaipur in Rajasthan.
According to a senior police official, police had arrested Dixit from Jaipur on Monday evening.
“During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused person was in contact with the deceased from last couple of months and had visited her house many a times in the past,” said the senior police official. “The accused had came to meet her on Thursday afternoon and remained there till Friday morning. Dixit also revealed that he smothered the victim and fled the spot with cash and jewellery, they said, adding further details are awaited,” said the senior police official. Earlier, a former IAF wing commander’s wife was found dead at her house in Dwarka’s Sector-7 area.
The deceased was identified as Meenu Jain (52), a resident of Air Force Naval Officers’ Enclave in Dwarka Sector-7.
Her and brother found her lying unconscious in her room on Friday morning.
She was taken to Ayushman Hospital in Dwarka Sector-10, where she was declared “brought dead”.
The family members of the deceased said two mobile phones, the jewellery the deceased was wearing, Rs 5 lakh in Indian currency and Rs 2 lakh in foreign currency were missing from the house.
The police seized three pillows and a towel with blood stains from the room. Three vessels and five cups, used for making and drinking tea, were also seized from the kitchen.
