Gearing up for the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas to be held in Varanasi from January 21 to 23 the union Government has asked the Yogi administration to locate a feasible site for the function and book hotels for the dignitaries for three days.
The directives were given by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Gen V.K. Singh (retd) during a meeting held with a delegation from Uttar Pradesh led by NRI Minister Swati Singh in New Delhi. Industrial Development Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey too attended that meeting.
Panedy said that in view of the magnitude of the proposed Pravasi Diwas to be held in UP for the first time directives have been given to maintain a better co-ordination between the centre and the state.
The Pravasi Diwas assumes importance because Chief Minister had said that after this function foreign dignitaries will be taken to Allahabad to witness Kumbh
“A 23-member committee, headed by Additional Chief Secretary, NRI has been formed that will prepare a list of possible sites in Varanasi where this function could be held and also prepare plan for Kumbh darshan. This committee will be in touch with the ambassadors of foreign countries to ensure their maximum participation,” he said.
