Days of 'durries’ and mats in schools are over as students of state-run primary schools will now sit on benches with the Yogi Government asking the Basic Education department to make budgetary allocations for the same. BJP spokesman Shalabh Mani Tripathi said that after providing students with free shoes, socks, bags and sweaters, the state government has now ensured that students will now sit on desks and benches instead of mats and durries.
“The Yogi government is committed to improving the quality of education in government schools. It is slowly building infrastructure by providing better class rooms and toilets. Students got free dress shoes, socks, bags and sweaters this academic session and will get bench and desk in the next session,” Tripathi said in a statement issued ion lucknow on Tuesday. The spokesman said that the Chief Minister has asked Basic Education department to prepare a budget for benches and desks and include it in Education department’s budget that would be presented in Budget session of state legislature beginning from February 8.
