Odisha sprinter Dutee Chand on Friday set a new national record in women’s 100m race at the 58th National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships 2018 being held at the Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati.

On the fourth day of the event, Dutee finished first in Heat-2 of semi-final round of women’s 100m sprint in 11.29 seconds setting a record.

The previous record was also held by Dutee herself with a timing of 11.30 seconds at the Indian Grand Prix in New Delhi, last year.

It might be mentioned here that, Dutee has qualified for the Jakarta Asian Games in 100m and 200m events by breaching the qualifying timings at the Inter State Championships.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated Dutee for her achievement.
