The district administration Dhanbad has issued a notice to all Government and private schools instructing them to change the school timings to 9 am from 1 December in view of the decrease in temperature. Winter school timings will be in force till to 28 February 2019. “In view of low temperatures and cold wave conditions, in all anganwadis and government (from pre-primary to class 12), shall not begin before 9 am and shall not be held after 5pm,” stated in the order.
In addition to the compulsory changes in government schools, an advisory for private schools to have been added comply with the same, informed DSE Dhanbad.
According to the met department official, the coal belt (Dhanbad and Bokaro) of Jharkhand experienced a minimum of 11 degrees Celsius, in the past few days. In view of the weather forecasts, school timing has been changed in government schools.
The met department reported a further fall in the temperature in coming days. People are experiencing chills as the cold winds are blowing in.
“The temperature is likely to fall further in the next couple of days and foggy conditions would affect normal life,” sources said.
