Whichever political party we will support will be able to form the next government after the upcoming assembly polls in Chhattisgarh, claimed national president of Gondwana Gantantra Party, Hira Singh Markam.
Addressing media persons here at Press Club on Monday, he said that his party had refused supporting Congress in the State Assembly elections of 2003 and the Congress party under the leadership of Ajit Jogi was defeated badly.
A similar situation here can come for the Bharatiya Janata Party this time as we are a key player and will be instrumental in formation of next government this time too, Markam claimed.
Further commenting on transformation in lives of tribals after Chhattisgarh attained statehood, Markam said disappointedly no change was witnessed in their lives and the governments formed in these 18 years snatched the ‘Jal-Jangal-Jameen’ (Water-Forest-land) of the poor tribals.
In the name of Maoism, atrocities are being done on tribals and their lives have turned vulnerable, he said.
The tribals and farmers in the state are in worst condition due to the wrong policies of governments, he added.
Regarding possibility of alliance with Congress party, Markam said all depends on seat sharing.
Till now we have not been approached and we have already declared 11 of our candidates.
If Congress approaches us and provides desirable seat share mechanism we would be ready for an alliance, he said.
Replying to a query about possibility of an alliance with Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J), Markam said Ajit Jogi was junior to him and if needed, he would have to approach him.
If he approaches us, then he will see what can be done, he said.
