General Manager, West Central Railway, Girish Pillai, was on Friday bid a warm farewell. All the staff members bid him adieu with warm wishes and luck for promotion. Girish Pillai has been posted as Member Traffic in Railway Board in New Delhi and he would be ex-officio Secretary in Government of India’ Railway Ministry.
It is noteworthy that on July 2 Pillai will take over the charge of Member Traffic in New Delhi. During farewell ceremony, Additional General Manager Pradeep Kumar, including all the Heads of Departments and the officers are present. Girish Pillai assumed the charge of General Manager, West Central Railway in September 2016. Under the leadership of Pillai, West Central Railway has established new dimensions of development. He emphasized on the development of basic infrastructures such as the electrification of Itarsi-Jabalpur section, commencing process of double line and electrification of Katni-Singrauli section and work of third line on Katni-Bina section. He laid foundation stone for laying of railway line on Rewa-Sidhi and Satna-Panna sections. His other works included re-modeling of yards and stations, introducing unified mega block and others. West Central Railways under the leadership of Girish Pillai, drones and GPS tracking device were used for the first time in the Railways for safety of passengers and trains. During the tenure of General Manager Girish Pillai, facilities were provided to the passengers in Jabalpur. They included- escalator at platform 6 of Jabalpur was established, lift facility at station, New Entry Gate at station’s platform number 6 and Automated vending machines.
