The vocational education scheme is being run with the help of the Central Government for development of employment-oriented skills of students studying in Government schools in the State.
Initially, the School Education Department started two trades in 50 higher secondary schools. After this, vocational education has been expanded in 263 development block level schools. Now students are being provided vocational education in 8 trades in these schools. Presently nearly 63,000 students are being provided vocational education.
This vocational education is being provided in Beauty and Wellness, Banking and Finance Services, Electricals Technology, Health Care, IT/ ITES, Physical Education and Sports, Retail, Travel and Tourism trades.
The British Council is an international organization that is working for promotion of educational and cultural activities. The British Council has been providing assistance in English language teaching and cultural activities in the country for almost 50 years.
In view of the worldwide experience of the organization, the British Council has been selected for English language teaching and learning in Madhya Pradesh. This project will work in Madhya Pradesh from year 2018 to 2022.
Under the project, emphasis will be laid on improving communication skills of teachers apart from their English language teaching skills. Along with this special focus will be laid on teaching English language and spoken English to children. Programmes will be organised in government schools to make English language teaching easier through the new methods.
Teachers teaching English from Class IX to XII will be trained through student centric techniques. School Education Department is collaborating with the British Council to ensure participation of teachers in Communication Skills and Continuing Professional Development in the curriculum.
This will develop skills, knowledge of English language besides English teaching in classes through new technique among teachers and students.
