Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that Uttarakhand is an ideal state as a film- making destination during his interaction with the bigwigs of the tinsel world in Mumbai on Wednesday.
A special programme was organised by the Uttarakhand government for the filmmakers during the promotional campaign of the ‘Destination Uttarakhand- Investors Summit’ in Mumbai.
During the programme, CM met the filmmakers and sought their suggestions for improving the state's film policy. He said that the state government is preparing a favourable environment for the film industry in the state. Terming Uttarakhand as a beautiful open movie studio, Rawat said that waterfalls, lakes, forests, rivers, mountains, snowy peaks, adventure sports and wildlife make it a perfect place for shooting movies. He added that the most important aspect of Uttarakhand is the good law and order situation and its peace -loving people.
“Filmmakers are getting permission to shoot from single window clearance system. We have also made provision to grant Rs 1.5 crore for the films whose 75 per cent shooting will be done in Uttarakhand. We are planning to provide skilled technicians for movie- making at the local level for which a ‘Film Appreciation Course’ has started in Dehradun. Uttarakhand was conferred with ‘Special Mention Certificate for Film Friendly Environment’ award during the National Film Awards distribution programme,’’ he said.
The chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh said that the state government would provide every possible help to the film producers and the directors.
Noted film producer, Mukesh Bhatt said that there is a lot of potential in Uttarakhand and the state government should frame policies, keeping in the view the interests of the filmmakers. Promising to shoot movies in the state, the celebrated producer Ramesh Sippy said that the film- shooting will also boost tourism in the state.
Film producer Boney Kapoor also spoke of giving support to the Uttarakhand government. Renowned lyricist, Prasoon Joshi said that the people of Uttarakhand are very sensitive and everyone should work together to create a friendly atmosphere for shooting in Uttarakhand. Filmmaker Satish Kaushik said that he has a longstanding relationship with Uttarakhand.
Rishabh Chopra of Yash Raj Films, Sheel Nimbalkar of John Abraham Productions, Kulmeet Makkar of Film and Television Producer Guild of India, Parth Arora of Fox Star Studios, president of Indian Motion Pictures Producer Association T P Aggrawal, producer-director Hansal Mehta, famous singer Anuradha Paudwal, producer Nitin Chandrachur, producer-director Mukesh Bhatt, producer Arvind Babbal, producer Dr Ratishankar Tripathi, Mayank Tiwari, Vikramjit Roy, Uday Singh of the Motion Pictures Association of America, producer Ashish Singh, Dilip Tahil, Sudhanshu Pandey and several other eminent personalities of Bollywood were present during the programme.
