In a joint operation Chatra and Palamau police have arrested Tritya Sammelan Prastuti Committee area commander Prashant Kumar alias Pankaj from Dandarkala village under Panki police station area of Palamau.
Addressing media persons Chatra SP Akhilesh V Veriar on Thursday stated that the accused was an active extremist in Simaria, Pathalgadha and Giggour in Chatra and Katkamsandi and Katkamdaag of Hazaribag district.
The SP said on Wednesday he received a tip off that Prashant was to visit his father’s house in Panki and formed a team led by ASP (Operation) to carry out the operation to nab him.
Police surrounded the extremist’s house to make the arrest. A sum of around Rs 35,000 was recovered from him.
Police said that Prashant was involved in about a dozen of cases of murder, loot, arson and levy collection in bordering areas of Hazaribag district. He was also an accused in the journalist’s Chandan Tiwari murder case.
