Travel agent duped on pretext of currency exchange

A travel agent was duped to the tune of Rs 2 lakh in the name of exchanging foreign currency by a miscreant at Sayaji hotel under Kamla Nagar police station area.

The victim Mayur Daswani was duped to the tune of Rs 2 lakh at Sayaji hotel by the miscreant who took money and left to bring dollar equivalent of the same money but never returned. The victim deals in money exchanging and operates Asha Travel agency in Kolar area.

In his complaint, the victim stated that on May 20 he was asked by the accused to visit Sayaji hotel for exchange of 500 dollar and introduced himself as sales executive of Sayaji hotel and after the deal was done. The victim was assured to provide 3000 dollar in exchange of Rs 2 lakh and on May 21 he went with the cash and provided the cash to the accused after which the accused took the money and left to bring dollars but never returned.  The victim after waiting for long enquired with the staff and later lodged with the Kamla Nagar police.

The victim told the police that the accused was like sales executive and was in the age group of 30 years.

Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under section 420 of the IPC and started further investigation.

The whole incident has been recorded in the CCTV installed in the hotel premises and based on the details search for the miscreant has been started.
