The third exhibition at Uttara Contemporary Art Gallery was inaugurated on Thursday where paintings of 15 artists from Uttarakhand are being exhibited. The exhibition will remain open to the public for the next 15 days.
Speaking on the occasion, the director of the state cultural department Bina Bhatt said, “In order to promote the paintings of the artists hailing from Uttarakhand, the art gallery came up. For the first time in the state, a platform was thus made for the artists so that they do not have to pay for exhibiting their art. The first exhibition was started on July 23 and this is the third one.”
She further said, “We are trying our best so that all the artists from Uttarakhand get a chance to exhibit their paintings in the gallery. This will not just give them promotion but also will help them to do better in their works.”
Dwelling on the lack of resources the art gallery has been facing, Bhatt said, “The art gallery came up in a very short time. Things are yet to be put into place. We would go for the appointment of a curator in the art gallery. This will help the visitors know more about the art exhibited in the gallery.”
