A special squad of the Odisha police arrested a person from here in connection with a theft case following a complaint by the renowned Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta in Kolkata.
The accused, identified as Bodhisatwa Bhattacharya, was nabbed from the Hotel Arya Palace on Wednesday night.
He was handed over to Kolkata police. He will be produced in the court by the Lake police and subsequently taken on a transit remand for interrogation.
He is accused of stealing cash of Rs 1.5 lakh, a laptop and other valuables from the house of Sengupta in July since when he was absconding.
Police sources said that Bodhisatwa was demanding Rs 5 lakh from the actress to return her laptop and other valuables.
