Chhattisgarh state sports award for year 2018 has been announced after the panel cleared the names on Monday. The awards to be given are Shahid Rajiv Pandey Award, Shahid Rajiv Pandey Award, Shahid Kaushal Yadav Award, Veer Hanuman Singh Puraskar, Shahid Pankaj Vikram Samman, Shahid Vinod Choubey Samman and Chief Minister Trophy award.
In Shahid Rajiv Pandey Award for badminton two players, having won medal in mixed doubles would be given the award jointly.
Two special achievements was made in year 2017-18, one was Vikram Singh Sisodia was made Chef De Mission for Commonwealth Games in Australia, which is for first time in history of sports in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
The second was Rahul Gupta, had climbed the Mt Everest, which is another historical achievement for Chhattisgarh in adventure sports. Olympian Renuka Yadav trainer Bhusan Sao of Rajnandgaon, three would be given special award for which recommendation.
The committee has invited claims and objections till August 7 till 3.00 pm at Directorate, Sports and Youth Welfare, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel International Hockey Stadium, GE Road, Raipur. The selection panel would be holding the meeting on August 9, after which the final list would be issued.
As per the list Shahid Rajiv Pandey Award for archery is for Dharmesh Gophane, Badminton joint for Juhi Prasad Dewangan and Venkat Gaurav Prasad, fencing V Johnson Solomon, non-olympic C Reji Philip Roll ball, Deepak Kumar Kanwar softball, and Paralympics – Atul Jaiswal for swimming.
Shahid Kaushal Yadav Award names are Kumar Diksha Choudhar for badminton, Swati Sahu for kayaking-canoeing, Megha Singh for Basket ball and Vedika Kaushik for Fencing.
Non-olympic category the names are Kumari Yamini Banaj for Karate, P Ashish Kumar for softball and Paralympics swimming Kumar Mohini.
Sanjay Mishra, trainer for badminton has been selected for Veer Hanuman Singh Puraskar for 2017-18 and for judging D Kondaiyya in Wushu.
The Shahid Pankaj Vikram Samman candidates are Bhavna Ragde and A Hariprasad Rao for volleyball, Sarita Yadav and Jimmy Chandrakar for Beach Volleyball, Megha Shyam Chandrakar for Tenni-coit, C Mohan Kumar for Power lifting, Richa Prajapati for baseball, Kalyani Mahapatra for football, Vimal Baret for kabbaddi, Suman Mahant and Vijay Prakash Jaiswal for Wushu, Mansi Rauthan and Shammi Purshesht for swimming, Monika Padhi and Rupesh Das for karate, Puja Singh and Ravi Parikh for hockey, Devram Patel Athletics (Paralympics), Jyoti Rani and Hariram for Judo, Uttara Navrang and Mahendra Kumar Sahu of Wheelchair fencing (Paralympics), Rakesh Sinha swimming (Paralympics), Dilip Kumar Navrange of Kho-Kho, T Rajesh Basketball, lucky Babu Markam of weightlifting, Pinki Sahu and Ganesh Yadu Kayaking-canoeing, Bhavika Ramteke in Handball and Kumari T Prateek Kumar in netball.
Shahid Vinod Choubey Samman winners are Pankaj Kumar Satpathi for Table Tennis, Mohammed Yusuf in handball, Gajendra Yadav in Master Athletics, Omprakash Singh in volleyball and Mitali Ghosh in baseball.
The Chief Minister Trophy for year 2017-18 has been declared for softball men (senior category) team includes V Mohan Rao, Deepak Kumar, Sunil Raj, Bhupendra Gade,
Chandan Kanwar, P Ashish Kumar, Sarang Netam, Chandan Tandi, Hitesh Nirmalkar, Prince Singh, Suraj Agrawal, Naresh Nirmalkar, Beeru Bagh, Inendra Kumar Sahu, Vishwanath Pathak, Kishan Mahanand, Jagdish Mahanand, Jayesh Kumar Rana, Devendra Singh Ajmani (Coach), Amit Kumar Varu (Coach) and Chandrashekar Puri Goswami (Manager). The Karate girls junior category candidates Bonirtha Talukdhar, Chaya Sahu and Yamini Banaj.
