Claiming to have solved the murder of teacher Kishore Singh Chauhan who was found dead in his car in Raipur area on June 16, the police said that his wife—also a teacher - and her paramour- a policeman had conspired and committed the crime. Investigation of the crime and tips provided by informants had earlier made the police suspect that a policeman was involved in the crime. The probe led the police to policeman Amit Kumar.
When the police interrogated him and Chauhan’s wife Snehlata Chauhan, the duo confessed to their crime and also confessed to having an affair. They claimed that they were tired of Chauhan as he was an alcoholic and perverted.
Acting out their conspiracy, Snehlata handed him over to Amit in a drunken state in their car at Araghar after which he strangled him with his bare hands and left him in the driving seat of the car which was abandoned on Ring Road. Police investigations revealed that Snehlata and Amit came into contact with each other in 1999 while studying in different colleges in Dehradun.
They became friendly at that time and later in 2017 they came into contact with each other though the social media.
She shared the details of herfamily life with him and later also spoke of getting rid of Chauhan due to the problems he was causing.
