Following last week's event when he shared midday meal with schoolchildren, Sundargarh Collector Surendra Kumar Meena reached an inaccessible village of the district on Monday by a bike and interacted with the villagers over their problems.
Since the village is devoid of basic amenities like road, electricity and drinking water etc, Meena promised them to provide these facilities within six months.
Sources said Collector Meena reportedly had received information from some source that there are a few inaccessible areas under Tangerpalli and lephripara block, where the villagers do not have basic facilities like road, electricity and drinking water etc. Meena reached Karuadera village under Balak Pahad area of Tangerpalli block and met the villagers.
Since the Karuadera village is covered with dense forest and there is no proper road, he took help of a two- wheeler and sat as a pillion rider. He covered a distance of 3 km to reach the village.
After reaching the inaccessible village, Meena interacted with the villagers and came to know that about 40 families live in that village, which do not have electricity. The villagers depend upon the 'Chua' (traditional well). The villagers have to walk down for about three km to get a road.
“In the first phase, we would target to develop a road after which we can take the borewell vehicle for providing them drinking water," Meena said, adding that electricity connection would also be provided to the village at the earliest under scheme for BPl category.
