The biggest beneficiary of Sanchar Kranti Yojna (SKY) will be the rural masses. The farmers and landless workers would take the advantage, said Chief Minister Raman Singh while inaugurating the State-wide free smart-phone distribution process ‘Mobile Tihar’ (Festival) at Balbir Juneja Indoor Stadium at Capital city, Raipur on Monday.
“Chhattisgarh is entering a new era where CM, Ministers and villagers would have 4G smart-phones. It will be breathtaking feat when 50 lakh smart-phones would reach the beneficiaries. State would be now known as ‘Smart Chhattisgarh’. The State now has IIIT, IIM and IIT like national higher educational institutions. The changes in lives of people would be significant that will play as link to development of State,” said Chief Minister.
He further said that within four months around 4.60 lakh students, 40 lakh women from rural area and 5 lakh women in urban area would be given Smartphone. President of India Ram Nath Kovind had recently launched the SKY scheme in Jagdalpur and after four days, the distribution process has begun.
“Once the Smartphone is in hand, from railway ticket booking to other digital transaction, it would be easy. One can even watch cricket match live on it. Since 2003, the migration problem has almost finished while rail and road connectivity has increased.
Telecommunication connectivity is also on rise. It would also increase the mobile density in state and country.
Mentioning cine star Kangana Ranaut, CM said for success in one’s life needs feeling and passion. Kangana from a small village in Himachal Pradesh has placed herself in a key position in Mumbai film industry.
Dedicating the 556 mobile and Mobile App ‘Ghot’, chief Minister said that it is one of the biggest scheme both nationally and international level along with a step for empowering women. The App will help farmers on issues related to agriculture, through information.
They can also see Chhattisgarhi art-culture based programmes. Chief Minister also started the distribution of ‘population land title’ to the beneficiaries. Under the scheme in Raipur district around 1 lakh and in city around 18,000 families would get the residential land title.
Briefing on the background of SKY scheme, Principal Secretary, information technology, Aman Kumar Singh said that during state-wide lok Suraj drive in April 2017, villagers raised issue of lack of mobile phones.
When CM was intimated that in state only 29 percent rural villages have mobile phone, then he directed to make a scheme so that rural masses get the phone. Similarly, to solve connectivity, the mobile towers are also being involved. It would be written in golden letters in annals of history.
Appreciating the SKY scheme, cine star Kangana said that the scheme is the example of long term foresight of Chief Minister for development of state. The efforts to empower women will get success.
State cabinet ministers Punnulal Mohle, Amar Agrawal, Rajesh Munat, Devji Bhai Patel, chief secretary Ajay Singh, Secretary Sanjay Shukla along with other senior officials were present. Raipur district collector O P Choudhary proposed vote of thanks.
