In support of their several pending demands, the employees owing affiliation to the secretariat association staged a sit-in outside the Abdul Kalam building of the secretariat from 11 am to 1 pm on Tuesday. The protest was supported by the associations of the review officers, personal secretaries, secretariat security and drivers association.
The president of the association, Deepak Joshi said that the association had staged a three-hour agitation of October 9, the day on which the Chief Secretary had sent the additional chief secretary Personnel, Radha Raturi for talks with the association. “In the deliberation, an understanding was reached that in view of the investors’ summit and visit of the Finance Commission, the association would suspend its agitation.
In the meeting, it was also decided that a meeting to discuss the issues raised by the association would be held on October 23. But the meeting was not held as per the understanding which is why we have resumed our agitation,’’ he said.
To defuse things, the state administration decided to hold a meeting of the association with ACS Radha Raturi on November 15.
Among the demands being raised by the agitating association is the filling up of the vacant promotional posts of the secretariat employees by the Departmental Promotional Committee (DPC) without delay.
The secretariat workers also want that promotional avenues in reviewing officer cadre and personal secretary cadres should be restored and the pending allowance as per the VII pay commission should be paid without delay.
The association also wants that the recommendation of Indu Kumar committee to abolish 45 sections should not be implemented in the secretariat and the spouses of the workers employed in the State Government service should be provided a quota for transfer to Dehradun.
