Cases involving violation of child rights were heard by State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) during a hearing session held on Friday. Several cases were resolved too during the session chaired by the chairperson of the commission Usha Negi, the commission sources said.
The long-dragging case of a family in which a mother Kumkum alleged a gynaecologist leaving her daughter suffering from serious ailment was taken up. During the hearing, the doctor presented her points before the commission with documents in writing. The family also presented its opinion before the panel. Hearing both sides, the commission decided that further hearing will be held next month.
Furthermore, a case of a family alleging a school making it shell out money in the name of AC charge and development charge amounting to around Rs 3500 and Rs 5000 respectively was heard. It was alleged that a large number of students who failed to deposit the money were ordered to leave the school.
Taking a serious note of the case, the commission ordered the principal of the school to cancel the expulsion orders and also to be present before the commission during the next meeting.
A case from Haridwar was registered in the commission where a student was not given admission under Right to Education (RTE) for which reports were sought of the chief education officer Haridwar.
Besides, cases related to molestation and expulsion of a boy from a private school were heard and resolved.Members of the commission Shailender Shekhar Karveti, Shardha Tripathi, Sima Dora and Kamini Gupta were among those present at the hearing.
