House of an RKDF College employee was targeted by miscreants and escaped with valuables worth Rs 1 lakh from Rivera Township under Kamla Nagar police station area on Thursday. Police said that the victim Surendra Mehra had gone for work and when he returned in the afternoon, the valuables were found burgled.
A complaint was lodged with the Kamla Nagar police by the victim in which the victim stated that he left the house at around 10 am. At around 7 pm, when he returned, the door of the house was open and on entering, the valuables were found burgled. The police said that as part of the investigation, CCTV cameras of the locality will be monitored. The neighbours have expressed ignorance over the burglary which was committed during the day and even the locks were broken but none of the neighhours heard any sound of breaking. In the incident Rs 45000 cash and gold and jewelry worth Rs 55000, the total loss in the burglary is around Rs 1 lakh. Except the cash and jewelry other valuables were not disturbed. Within hours miscreants broke the lock and escaped with the valuables which suggest that the miscreants were aware of the whereabouts of the victim. The victim works with RKDF College and lives at EWS quarter at Riveria Town.
Domestic help and security guards would be questioned in the further investigation. Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under sections 457 and 380 of the IPC and started further investigation.
