Continuing its endeavour to promote India’s Heritage, the citizens of Bhopal witnessed the flavours of folk dances from across the country, on the second day of the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav (RSM) 2018, on Tuesday.
The festival saw performers sharing the stage and filling it with their colourful array of folklores by performing folk dance forms from all over India.
To celebrate our plural traditions, under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat matrix Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav began in Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior on February 24, 2018. The States paired with Madhya Pradesh are Nagaland and Manipur.
The Mahotsav offers people an opportunity to view and understand the colourful, vibrant and authentic folk dances from diverse corners, which together make up the ethos of the country.
In its second day in Bhopal a folk dance performance of Khamba Thobi Dance from Manipur was showcased along with the Tribal People of Meitis community celebrating and performing a folk dance – laai Haroba Manipur.
Besides, Vidhya lal performed Kathak- Mor Pakha (Meghmalhar), an abhinaya piece in teen taal (composer Ras Khan, choreographer Geetanjali lal) and ‘Shiva Shakti’ & ‘Tarana’.
later, the different dances from different State were presented- Badhai Folk Dacne and Gudaum Baza (Madhya Pradesh), Chhau folk dance and Paika Folk Dacne (Jharkhand), Chapelli and Ghasiyaari (Uttarakhand), Kalbelia Bhavai, and langa Mavaganyar (Rajasthan), Faag (Haryana), Bhangra and Jindua (Punjab), Pung Cholam, Thangta and stick dance (Manipur) and lawni folk dance (Maharashtra).
A handloom and handicrafts-utsav was also the part of the event.
