Bastar’s Chiktrakote and Gangrel dam in Dhamtari district would be made more attractive for the tourist. There is a need for more facilities for the tourists in these areas, said Chief Secretary Ajay Singh. He was reviewing the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board and other department for increasing facilities and amenities for tourists at tourist places of State.
Chief Secretary directed the housing and environment department officials to complete all the official formalities for formation of ‘Chitrakote Development Authority’ in Bastar. The officials were also directed to complete the lighting, colourful and attractive fountain and lift facilities work at the earliest. He also directed the officials to ensure that all necessary basic amenities and facilities are provided at the Chitrakote based rest house building for the tourists.
He also directed the PWD department to provide road connectivity and expansion for the Chiktrakote. Tourism department officials said that under ‘Tribal Tourism Circuit’ in Chiktrakote different works have been undertaken at cost of Rs 12 crore. They include natural trail, log huts, tourist facilitation and tribal interpretation centre, Pagoda, amphitheatre, lift, solar lighting, parking, rain shelter, landscaping, borewell, pump room and drainage, sold waste management among works have been undertaken.
Works are also being done for water sports and adventure sports in lines of international level along with the tourism facilities. Tourism culture and health department secretary Niharika Barik, Bastar Collector Dhananjay Dewangan, Dhamtari collector Dr C R Prasanna, Tourism department Managing Director M.T. Nandi, General manager Sanjay Singh along with forest department, water resources, public works department, energy, housing and environment along with other related department senior officers were present.
