The Mandi Police has unearthed a racket of printing fake currency notes late on Monday. The fake notes seized from the accused are of the denomination of Rs200 and Rs500.
Police is making search to nab the other members of the gang. Two people – Gurdev Singh from Mandi and Bhag Chand of Kulu were arrested late Monday evening. Police is searching for the other members of the racket.
What is worrying the police is that some pockets of Mandi and Kulu were notorious for the smuggled drugs, but the unearthing of fake currency notes has added new dimensions to the crime scene in Himachal Pradesh.
Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur, has apparently directed DGP Himachal Pradesh to strictly screen all the entry points to Himachal Pradesh for plughing the entry of criminals to the hill state which many criminals consider it as a safe haven to hide and operate.
Superintendent of Police Mandi, Gurdev Chandi Sharma, told The Pioneer that the accused were selling fake notes in Sundernagar and Bilaspur.The police has recovered a coloured printer and some other items from the accused persons.
