While the police are still clueless about Kashmiri student Suhail Aijaz’s whereabouts after he had gone missing from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar since more than two weeks, DGP RP Sharma on Tuesday said the probe was on the right track and police forces of three States are working in close coordination for the purpose.
Informing the media about the Suhail case after speaking to his Jammu and Kashmir counterpart SP Vaid, Dr Sharma said the Odisha police were in touch with the West Bengal and Jammu and Kashmir polices and sharing information to trace the missing medical student.
Efforts are also being made to gather information from the police of other neighbouring States to locate Suhail, Sharma added.
Meanwhile, the Odisha police are examining the Facebook account of Suhail, who happens to be a native of terror hit Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir to check whether he had any links with any militant outfits or not. Similarly, during the investigation it was also revealed that Suhail did not have any WhatsApp account.
On Monday, Suhail’s father Aijaz Ahmed appealed to his son through media to return immediately from where he is. Aijaz also expected that his son would not take any step like joining terrorist groups which would invite trouble and disrepute for him and his family.
Notably, Suhail left his hostel saying that he was going to attend a wedding in Chandigarh on February 9. While he promised the hostel authorities to return on February 17, he did not return. His last mobile location was traced to Howrah and after that the cell phone was found switched off leading to many apprehensions.
