Monday, 30 April 2018 | PNS | Patiala/Chandigarh

A scrap-dealer died while another was left injured in Patiala during a blast at the former’s house on Sunday.

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has ordered a probe into the incident while announcing Rs 1 lakh ex-gratia for deceased’s kin and Rs 25,000 compensation for the injured, besides free medical treatment.

The deceased was identified as Vikram Singh, a scrap dealer, and the injured as Manohar Singh. The police said that it was a low-intensity blast that took place at around 9 am.

It was informed that the deceased scrap-dealer deals in scrap and had refrigerator and air-conditioner compressors at his place.  As per preliminary investigation, the blast seems to have occurred because of a compressor. The deceased was alone in the house when the incident took place.

The CM has extended his sympathies to the family of Vikram Singh alias Nonu, who lost his life in the incident.
