In a fresh initiative taken by the District legal Services Authority (DlSA) of Ranchi, a team formed by Judicial Commissioner Navneet Kumar, Chairman of DlSA Ranchi, has been visiting the family members of those persons who died due to lightning in the last few days to initiate the process of providing them compensation from the State Government. A separate team of Para legal Volunteers (PlV) has also been deputed at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, which is assisting the victims of lightning to get admitted to the premier hospital.
“Taking cognisance of the media reports, that people are dying of lightning the Judicial Commissioner constituted a team to ensure that they should get their dues. The team visited the villages under Mandar and Chanho blocks on Wednesday and initiated the process to provide compensation to the family members of those who died recently due to lightning,” said DlSA Secretary Fahim Quirmani. An awareness programme is also being conducted among the people to make them aware about the scheme under which they could get compensation from the State Government, he added.
“Pamphlets will all details of government scheme are also being distributed by the team in the villages to create awareness in this regard,” said the DlSA Secretary. Besides that, the team is also making arrangements to admit lightning victims to the nearest health centre for treatment, he said.
The Secretary further said that the team, during its visit on Wednesday, also met Anima Kumari, Jatri Kumari and Sonali Oraon of Badhaiya village under Chanho Block, who were undergoing treatment at Mandar Hospital after being hit by lightning recently. Meanwhile, the team also visited the family members of a lightning victim who died on May 23 and gave them information on how they could get compensation from the State Government.
The team is also seeking applications from the victims’ family so that they could be given compensation.
