There was no let-up in the lawyers’ strike in the State even as the Commissionerate police here on Thursday took action against four policemen, who had allegedly assaulted a High Court lawyer on Tuesday.
Demanding arrest of the erring policemen, the lawyers decided to continue boycotting of courts indefinitely. “The situation will be reviewed on Monday,” said the High Court Bar Association.

In another development, two lawyers of the city filed two separate PIls in the High Court seeking judicial interventions in what they alleged police highhandedness.
Earlier in the morning, making the first attempt to break the deadlock, the city DCP announced the suspension of three policemen and added that a Home Guard has also been put on notice period.
“On the basis of a preliminary enquiry report submitted by an Additional DCP, three policemen, including a Havildar, have been placed under suspension for misconduct,” said DCP Akhileswar Singh.
