New techniques for better surveillance in Ranchi

Wednesday, 31 October 2018 | PNS | Ranchi

In an attempt to curb the increasing incidents of crime in the Capital City, soon the Ranchi Police will introduce two new hi-tech surveillance modus operandi to keep a tab on miscreants’ activities.

Soon Face Recognition Cameras (FRC) will be installed at major routes to collect first-hand inputs about any trouble-maker entering the city or creating ruckus within the jurisdiction of Ranchi Police.

“For any preliminary investigation, FRC can prove immensely beneficial. Criminals or any such troublemaker would be recognised easily through this hi-resolution system being mounted up here at different locations. As many as 25 spots have been identified for setting up FRC considering vulnerability, population and other factors,” said SSP – Ranchi, Anish Gupta during a monthly meeting ‘Media Samvad’ here on Tuesday.

In addition, in a bid to nab the traffic defaulters, violating the norms while putting the lives of other too at stake, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system is all set to get launched here. “Within a few weeks, probably, before November 15, ANPR system will be put up here. Approximately 17 traffic check-posts have been identified where ANPR will be put up. Yet again, this major initiative will aid in streamlining the traffic management system to an extent,” SSP Ranchi said.

On the other hand, in order to popularise the ambitious health care scheme – Ayushmaan Bharat, Ranchi DC, Rai Mahimapat Ray said, “After the successful attempt of starting the distribution of golden cards at ‘Murma Mela’, the project will be further taken to the upcoming ‘Vikash Mela’ to be organised at Angara Block soon.

Meanwhile, in a first of its kind attempt, district administration has identified a few ‘Anganwadi’ centres here for developing ‘Child Friendly’ toilets. “A few innovative projects is being taken up, besides the ‘Child-Friendly Toilets’ construction, a project titled ‘Smoke Free Ranchi’ will be started soon. Under this, numerous campaigns, workshops will be organised to sensitise public about the ill-effects of tobacco consumption,” said Sadar SDO, Garima Singh.

Singh during the meeting asserted that considering the guidelines of Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI), food samples are being collected from various eateries.

q“With festivals around the corner, all major and minor confectionery shops are on the radar of district administration. Regular raids are conducted at various shops, hotels etc. In the coming days too, the district administration team will conduct raids. Also, after receiving the FSSAI order, pending food licences are getting cleared,” the SDO added.

Also, the officials stated that the district administration will provide training to 100 ‘Civil Defense Workers’ by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and will give uniforms to the workers of Civil Defense.

Taking into account the fire safety norms, the district administration has confined the sale of firecrackers to four places –Morhabadi Ground, HEC, Doranda and Harmu Ground. Any retailer or street vendors, if found infringing the guidelines, immediate action will be taken against the defaulters.

Meanwhile, during the Chhath Puja, NDRF team members will be deployed at four ponds – Ranchi Lake (Bada Talab), Chadri Talab, Kanke Dam and Dhurwa Dam.
