The District Bar Association held a demonstration and cease-court work stir on Saturday in demand of establishment of a Vigilance Court at Nabarangpur.
Bar Association president Narashingho Tripathy
said setting up of a Vigilance Court at Nabarangpur is a longstanding demand of the bar members.
On many occasions, the association has submitted memorandums to the High Court of Orissa and to the State Government asking for establishment of a Vigilance Court.
“To press the demand, the association had earlier resolved to stage a demonstration and hold cease-work,” he added.
As a result of the strike, day’s court works were at standstill.
Lawyers locked main gates of District and Sessions Court. People seeking legal redressal suffered as lawyers refrained from attending courts, including revenue courts.
