Missing K’pada youth’s body found in river

The Patkura police on Sunday recovered the decomposed body of one Dipak Kumar Panda of Bandhakat village from the Chitroptala river near Mandia village, informed IIC Sujit Pradhan.

Dipak, who was working in a Kerala-based private company, had come to his house on December 26 to perform his father’s death anniversary. He had brought Rs 17,000 for the ritual.

Dipak’s mother Sasmita Panda alleged that her son along with Ashok Panda (a neighbour) had gone to Patkura on the latter’s bike on December 26 evening. Later, Ashok was found lying on the Akhua mbankment in an inebriated condition and there was no trace of Dipak.Sasmita alleged that her son Dipak was killed as his Rs 17,000 was missing from his purse and blood stain was found on the mouth, ear and nose. Ashok is on the run now.

Further investigations are on, said the IIC.
