In a tragic incident, an 18-month-old child lost his life after he was allegedly run over by a speeding scooty driven by a 15-year-old boy on Wednesday in Northeast district’s Khajuri Khas area.
“A police control room (PCR) call was received at Khajuri Khas police station at around 8:49 pm on Wednesday regarding an accident in Shri Ram Colony. It was found that the 18-month-old baby was involved in an accident and was taken to the hospital, where she was declared brought dead,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) A K Thakur.
According to police, the baby was hit by a speeding scooty reportedly driven by a juvenile. The 15-year-old boy was apprehended and he was sent to an observation home by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB).
“A case under section 279 (Rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) was registered at Khajuri Khas police station. We are further investigating the matter,” said the DCP.
