A youth allegedly abducted a minor girl and raped her after she rejected his love advances at Simulia village under the Soro police station of the district on Friday. The incident came to light when the girl narrated the incident to her parents who filed a complaint with the Soro police on Saturday. The accused youth was identified as Anup Behera.
Sources said Behera had proposed to the minor girl, who is said to be a Class-X student repeatedly. However, the girl had rejected the advances by him. Frustrated over it, Behera allegedly abducted the girl on Friday and raped her. later, he went absconding.
Police have initiated an investigation into the incident. “Based on the allegation of a minor girl’s parents, we have registered a case. They have alleged that Anu Behera of Simulia village had kidnapped the girl and raped her,” said Soro PS IIC Dilip Das.
