Even though the State Government has announced not to give extension to officials after their superannuation, Director of Mines Deepak Kumar Mohanty was given an extension of six months on Saturday.
This has raised many eyebrows. Earlier, despite his controversial track record Works Secretary Nalinikanta Pradhan was given extension of one year after his superannuation. It might be mentioned here that maximum number of bridge collapses took place during his tenure.
Later, it came to light that as more than 30 Assistant Executive Engineers of the Works Department were given extension after their superannuation. This is said to be a record of sorts.
