Considering the rush of pilgrims in Rishikesh during Char Dham Yatra season and complete the yatra successful, a coordination meeting was held among the police officers of Raiwala and Rishikesh of Dehradun district; Muni-ki- Reti of Tehri district and lakshmman Jhula of Pauri district and members of taxi union, Vikram union, hotel union, and others at the Yatra terminal in Rishikesh on Sunday. Rishikesh circle officer Virendra Singh Rawat presided over a meeting with the police officers and directed them to take necessary steps to complete the Char Dham Yatra peacefully.
The circle officer said that Char Dham Yatra starts from Rishikesh and large numbers of pilgrims have started reaching Rishikesh due to which a rush of visitors is being witnessed here. Considering this, coordinated efforts should be made by the police officers of police officers of Raiwala and Rishikesh in Dehradun district; Muni-ki- Reti in Tehri district and lakshman Jhula in Pauri district to facilitate the pilgrimage sans glitches.
In order to facilitate the pilgrims, the members of hotel and Dharmshala unions were directed to ensure that fates of services and products are listed prominently for the pilgrims to see. The local police station should be informed about any dubious persons roaming around in the area. Vehicle union members were also instructed to ensure that the operators of auto rickshaws, Vikrams, buses and taxis list fare rates clearly while also behaving politely with the pilgrims, said CO Rawat.
He further said that lakhs of people arrive at Raiwala, Rishikesh, lakshman Jhula and Muni-ki–Reti during Yatra season and it is a big challenge for the authorities to manage the traffic at these places. Coordinated efforts should be made by the officers of police stations concerned to ensure that traffic is smooth during the Yatra season. The police station officers were directed to ensure that policemen deputed on Char Dham Yatra have the necessary information which can be conveyed to pilgrims wanting the same. Raiwala and Rishikesh police officers were directed to appoint trained tourist police at tourist help centre to assist the pilgrims efficiently if needed. In the meeting Rishikesh in-charge inspector Praveen Koshyari, Muni-ki Reti in-charge inspector Manish Upadhyay, lakshman Jhula in-charge Vikas Bharadwaj, Raiwala in-charge Mahendra Singh Pundir, Yatra bus terminal in-charge Rajesh Singh, representatives from various business fraternities and others were present.
