In order to resolve the complaints registered by the people regarding the raised house tax, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) conducted the second hearing on Thursday. Total 19 wards were called in the second session- nine in the first session and 10 in the second session. The residents from Defence Colony demanded that the rate increased by MCD should be only five per cent. Total 23 cases were heard by the appointed team on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Resident Welfare Society gave a memorandum to the municipal commissioner Vijay Kumar Joogdande, seeking relief from raised house tax. They said that though MCD has increased the house tax nothing is being done to boost the facilities of different areas. Also, there are many houses in the various wards that have never paid house tax. People demanded that MCD should first improve the services provided and then should raise the house tax. They also said that the officials should wait until the formation of the board which can further decide on the increase in the house tax.
Speaking of the matter, the municipal commissioner Vijay Kumar Jogdande said, “We are noting down all the suggestions and the demands made by the people. Many complaints are regarding our facilities provided in the various wards. After the hearing session is over, all the suggestions will be considered and the decision on the hike of the house tax will be taken accordingly. Also, we will resolve the problems of the people regarding the facilities provided by us.”
