Mayawati questioned BJP over release of surgical strike video

Saturday, 30 June 2018 | PNS | Lucknow

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati on Friday questioned the rationale behind BJP government at the centre releasing the video of surgical strikes of the Army  two years after the incident. “Entire nation in one voice had praised the valour and determination of the brave jawans of the Indian army for conducting operation against terrorist holed up across the border in Pakistan and none demanded evidence of the surgical strike from the government. Releasing video of   after nearly two years of the incident is nothing but an attempt by the Narendra Modi government to distract people  attention their enormous failures before 2019 lok Sabha elections,” she alleged.

Terming the government move as hated political gimmick, Mayawati said the Narendra Modi government    after twin disaster of demonitisation of high value currency notes and Goods and services tax   the prime minister is indulging in gimmicks to divert the attention of the people from the sufferings they are facing under the BJP rule. She further asked, “If they did it with intention of showing proof, then why did they not release video when strike the was carried outIJ.

In a statement here, Mayawati said that no one questioned or sought proof of the surgical strike when it was done as every Indian respects the Army personnel and their sacrifice for the country.   ``If the government was so determined to give proof of the surgical strike then it should have furnished it soon after the incident in September 2016’’, said Mayawati. The BSP president said that misusing the Army for its political purpose is condemnable and it shows the real face of the BJP.

Mayawati   rattled by the huge rally by the prime minister Narendra Modi in Maghar in Sant kabir nagar district on Thursday also criticised the BJP for attempting to appropriate the icons of the Bahujan Samaj.   She reiterated that the BJP must refrain from using the name of Sant Kabir Das for political gains. Kabir breathed his last and was buried in this eastern UP town. Modi was on a first-ever visit by a prime minister to the town to pay respects to the 16th-century mystic poet on his 500th death anniversary. Modi offered a ‘chadar’ at the Mazar’ of Sant Kabir Das and also laid the foundation stone for the Sant Kabir Academy. Mayawati alleged that the BJP was indulging in cheap vote-bank politics by using the name of Kabir. “laying the foundation stone for setting up Kabir Academy in Maghar was nothing but an attempt to divert people’s attention from government failure to speed up development in Eastern Uttar Pradesh,” said Mayawati. “The BJP remembers Sant Kabir Das now when lok Sabha polls are around the corner. Why it did not do anything for the development of Maghar in the last four years,” she asked.
